Last Friday evening over 125 sixth graders from Wells and Kelly lane schools danced the night away at the first Sixth Grade dance of the year. Sponsored by the Youth Action Council (a youth leadership and community service group for high school age students) the 6th grade dance is a bi-annual event in Granby. It is organized and run by the high school students with a little help from AnneMarie and Brita who facilitate the group.
YAC uses proceed from the dances to help fund scholarship programs for graduating GMHS seniors. This year, any sixth grader who brought an item to donate to the food bank received a discount on the cost of admission. We were able to collect over 12 bags and four boxes of food for the food pantry! Way to go Sixth Graders!!!
